Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, demons, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the city.

Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the main group to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might appear out of place, but the events of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

First, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.

The antagonist then settled his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each member has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants revenge.
  • Kattigan knows Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could assist the group access places they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character pledged a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:

  • Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This results in them few options but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.

What’s Next?

Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to form the Explorers and Planners groups.

Fans can expect discovering which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
